Okay, there has been some confusion in my last post regarding the new Tripwire mechanism. I thought I could do a quick run down of the basics for you.
Essentially, it is just a new Redstone Charge Dispenser, like the Lever, Button, Pressure Plate, etc.
It requires two hooks, crafted as below. You must place STRING on the blocks (Right click) between the hooks, taking into account the fact that the hook sits in the block next to the one it is placed in, so you can’t place anything there.
Once the hooks change to ‘latched’, and they straighten out, any movement on the string blocks will cause a redstone charge to be emitted from the blocks the Hooks are placed on.
The common use for these is to set a trap, whether it be opening a trapdoor, moving a piston, or for neutral uses, such as opening doors, etc.
