When Notch announced that he was no longer going to be the lead developer of Minecraft many were disappointed and a little nervous about the future of the Minecraft game. Those fears quickly subsided as the new developers continued development and continued to release new versions.
Will now we know what Notch has been up to and it is pretty darn awesome! Mojang announced a new game called 0x10c which sounds amazing. Could this be one of the 3 new games that Mojang said they are working on?
Why do we think 0x10c sounds so cool and why we think it could be the next big hit? For starters it has already been stated that they will unleash an alpha so that players will be able to help shape the game as it grows. This is one of the big reasons Minecraft has had such a huge success. Secondly Game 0x10c will be PC game taking place in outer space. Cool!
The backstory and setting of the 0x10c game
“In a parallel universe where the space race never ended, space travel was gaining popularity amongst corporations and rich individuals.
In 1988, a brand new deep sleep cell was released, compatible with all popular 16 bit computers. Unfortunately, it used big endian, whereas the DCPU-16 specifications called for little endian. This led to a severe bug in the included drivers, causing a requested sleep of 0x0000 0000 0000 0001 years to last for 0x0001 0000 0000 0000 years.
It’s now the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, and the first lost people are starting to wake up to a universe on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy.” ref: http://0x10c.com/
What will the game have? How about a fully working computer system, space battles against AI or other human players, random encounters, lots of engineering and more. According to Notch “The computer in the game is a fully functioning emulated 16 bit CPU that can be used to control your entire ship, or just to play games on while waiting for a large mining operation to finish”.
No release date has yet been set for the alpha but you can keep updated with the happenings from 0x10c.com and you can be sure we will be tracking this too. The cost of the game is also undecided but they are stating it will most likely be a monthly fee for joining the Multiverse because they are going to emulate all computers and physics even when players aren’t logged in and Single player won’t have any recurring fees.
What do you all think? Does 0x10c sound awesome? will you play it?
