Anyone who is a Minecraft fan has probably heard the story of Asia Ramirez and Matt Dunn. During the closing ceremonies, this couple was brought on stage as the winner of a limited Jones Soda bottle; however, what awaited Asia was a different kind of product: a Jones Soda bottle with a proposal from Matt. It’s only fitting that the couple who became engaged at Mineconhave a Minecraft-themed wedding.
Even the venue for the wedding was Minecraft-themed; Beatnik Studios, with its bare brick walls, served as the perfect backdrop as the walls looked to come out of the game itself. Greg Aronowitz, who sculpted life-size statues of in-game Minecraft creatures, animals and items for Minecon, lent those same statues to the wedding. Creepers, sheep, ducks, torches and even trees in the Minecraft style made this wedding feel like it was happening from within the game.
Even if the couple were to stop there, they would have had a perfect Minecraft wedding; however, they decided to go a step further and customize their wedding attire with slight Minecraft touches. While the bride and the groom wore typical wedding outfits, the groom’s tie resembled a Minecraft item while the bride wore a pendant shaped like a Minecraft diamond.
Jones Soda, who helped Matt plan the proposal, provided drinks for the reception. These unique Jones Soda bottles featured flavors inspired by the game, such as Coca Coal and Pork Pop. No wedding reception would be complete without food, and Matt and Asia’s reception featured cakes and pies styled like the cakes and pies used in Minecraft. The centerpieces on each reception table looked like grass and plants from Minecraft and were the designs of Matt.
This Minecraft wedding was stylish, chic and above all, captured the spirit of Matt and Asia perfectly and is a must-see for any Minecraft fan.
