Minecraft On Your TV With Ouya!

Currently in order to play Minecraft on a TV, you need to have an XBox. What if it was possible to play Minecraft and other Indie games on the big screen without being bound to the Xbox or other walled garden consoles? Ouya has set out to make that a reality.

Check out these photos to see what Ouya is all about.

It is very hard for Indie game developers to bring their games to the TV. The cost is prohibited. Notch and Mojang had to do some serious negotiation with Microsoft to bring Minecraft to the Xbox and as many Minecraft players have pointed out, the Xbox version is not up to par with the PC version. The concept behind Ouya will empower Indie game developers to bring their games to the TV without being handcuffed into crazy contracts by the big boys and without the unobtainable costs. Ouya will be an open source game console that will run off the Android technology. They even promote it as being “hackable” and the controller looks pretty slick.

Mojang even participated in the funding for this so you know they stand behind it. A console like this if done correctly can be a great thing for Indie games. It could bring Indie gaming to an entirely different level and audience.

What do you think of the concept behind Ouya? Would you buy this console to play Minecraft and other Indie games on your TV?
