There is no set or official release date yet for Minecraft 1.3 but Minecraft gamers are anxious for what is to come in this update.
One of the most anticipated things in the Minecraft 1.3 release will be the addition of Cocoa Plants. These plants will be created on the sides of jungle trees. These plants can be harvested for you guessed it cocoa. The cocoa beans will also have a new texture, which you can see a side by side comparison below of the new texture vs the old texture.
Minecraft Cocoa Beans have something in common with apples in that they drop from jungle tree leaves at the same rate.
Another added enhancement will be new slabs with 3 new types of planks. The slabs also behave as wood and not as stone.
In the Minecraft 1.3 release, spawning eggs will now give you villagers with a random profession. In prior releases, spawning eggs would simply spawn the original villager. In this release you will have the chance to obtain a lot of different types of villagers rather than just the original.
Another cool feature is when you click a piece of armor while holding the shift key down, it will automatically go to your armor slot. This makes things a little easier and faster.
It doesn’t stop there. This new release has added Book and Quill and Written Book. This means you will be able to place the Book on the Quill and Write in the book.
Okay so just as we think it can’t get any better in a single update, we are being told that there will be trading with villagers. There will be a new currency item (see below for screenshot).
Other new additions are Villages can spawn in Jungle Biomes, there will be a new type of Golden Apple, stars will be smaller and brighter, wooden tools will be able to be burned in furnaces, there will be a fix for the mob prediction glitch in multiplayer, silk touch will be able to pick up Ice and Glass Panes and a ton more little changes/additions.
